Custom mouthguards are designed to protect teeth and the jaw from injury and relieve discomfort from bruxism.

Custom night guards can help alleviate stress on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) caused by teeth grinding or clenching, which may lead to jaw pain or discomfort. These appliances are designed to prevent further damage and provide relief from TMJ-related issues. Additionally, custom mouthguards during sports, especially for those with braces, offer a better fit and enhanced protection.

Occlusal Splints

We make custom-fitted night guards to alleviate stress on the temporal mandibular joint (TMJ) which may be resulting in soreness or pain.

Throughout all the stresses that we put our joints through, patients may not realize that the soreness or pain they are experiencing in their jaw or ears may be due to stresses on their temporomandibular joint. Bruxism is a condition that causes clenching and/or grinding of teeth. This causes additional, unnecessary stress on tooth surfaces and can lead to TMJ pain.

Our office can fabricate custom appliances to help alleviate those stresses and prevent further damage and pain. Typically worn at night, these removable acrylic appliances can help provide relief from temporomandibular joint pain and other effects of grinding the teeth. We do not recommend using the mouth guards sold in drugstores, as they can worsen symptoms and teeth grinding.

Custom Mouthguards

If you or your child participates in sports, it’s important to have a custom mouthguard to protect the teeth and jaw from injury. Mouthguards are especially important for patients with orthodontic braces. We take an impression of your teeth, then create a device fitted to your mouth for a more comfortable fit, easier breathing, and better protection. Preventing injury is much more budget-friendly than repairing the damage caused by facial trauma.
